Art with Mrs Ergun

Welcome Back! The first term of 2017 school year has commenced with some exciting changes.

This year, Mrs.Zengin has started taking Art classes at Dallas Campus with the year 6’s. I was welcomed back into Eastmeadows Art Room by all Foundation to Year 5 students.

All students have been busy reviewing and being introduced to the Art Studio rules and expectations as they started creating new works of art. As students finish their projects, I will be posting student artworks on our Facebook page The Art Studios at Sirius College Primary /@siriusartstudios.

All students should have at least one artwork published soon, if they don't already. The younger students tend to do projects that go faster while the older students' projects are more involved and take longer.

This year the students are introduced to the new Art Café in the Art Studio. It is an exciting system where the art supplies are distributed in a very engaging way! The Art studio is a place where students can develop their self-esteem through involvement in the art making process, having fun as they explore new ideas, materials and techniques. The Art room is a well-equipped, spacious, light-filled space that is visually engaging for the students.

Classes from Foundation to Year5 visit the Art Studio once a week and the Australian Curriculum Standards are used as a guide to planning. The Art program aims to help students develop a genuine, personal method of self-expression working both individually and in groups.

Students are presented with opportunities to explore, plan and create in the areas of painting, printing, drawing, collage, modelling, sculpture, clay, textiles and digital media. Activities are planned to support classroom thematic work as well as connecting students to significant cultural and community events.

Sirius College Art Studio is always open to visitors. Please read the school newsletter and follow us on our Facebook page for regular updates from the Art Studio.
